Biomedical Technology Innovation Group
Prof. Martha Gray

The RLE Biomedical Technology Innovation Group is led by Dr Martha L Gray. The lab’s research seeks to discover the factors that mediate articular cartilage growth, degeneration, and repair, and it has developed novel ways to nondestructively visualize cartilage macromolecules in vivo and in vitro.

Dr Gray leads cross-institutional collaborations focused on new healthcare innovation methods. Beginning with her tenure as director of the Harvard–MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST) and in subsequent programs, she has developed and directed programs that work at the nexus of medicine, engineering, and business. Through teaching and organizational leadership Dr Gray has established strong communities and created training approaches that support patient-centric translational research.

Dr Gray’s abiding interest is in enhancing our approaches to research training and, in particular, to developing methods that will increase the likelihood that our emerging researchers will, through their careers, have long-lasting impact.
